Stained Glass Garden’s mission has always been to spread their love of glass art around the community! They offer classes and team building events to individuals, businesses, and schools. They sell supplies to teachers, students, professionals and hobbyists alike, and create custom stained glass and mosaic work. Stained Glass Garden works with contractors and designers to add gorgeous glass to homes: entries, bathrooms, and kitchens. We support their local artists by representing more than 50 local artists’ glasswork and giftware in the gallery space. Each month they put on a showcase of one local artist or patron that they feel is doing something unique with glass art. Stained Glass Garden is thrilled to be entering their 40th year doing exactly what they love.

The Stained Glass Garden was the first store to open on Fourth Street in 1976, which at the time consisted of dirt roads, a goat farm, empty lots, and the Amtrak railroad tracks just 30 yards away. It was founded by artist and teacher, Joan McLean and her brother Bruce McLean. In 1986, Joan became the sole owner and expanded the store threefold. In 1992, SGG relocated down the street to its current location at 1800 Fourth Street, Berkeley, California, and the bustling Fourth Street community has continued to blossom around them!
